Dutch Secretary of State, Mr. Eric van den Burg is carrying out a short work visit in Aruba, related to the apology of the Netherlands regarding the topic of slavery. Also during his visit, together with prime minister of Aruba, Mrs. Evelyn Wever-Croes, Van den Burg paid a visit to the Foundation Against Relational Violence, FCVR.

Secretary of State Van den Burg is also in charge of Justice and the issue of asylum seekers. But also in charge of the topic of violence and abuse against people. In this context, Van den Burg visited FCVR considering this visit to be of great importance for the Secretary of State to have insight on what Aruba is already doing regarding this issue. The FCVR building was expanded thanks to funds from the Netherlands, and for this reason, it is important for them to see what was done with their funds.

FCVR is doing enormous work for our local community by helping women that are in difficulty so that they can have a safe and secure place to turn to, so they can stand on their own two feet again, in every sense.

“It is always a pleasure when you visit a foundation doing such a great job. Of course in my heart I wish that we would never have the need for such a foundation, but the reality is that we need it, and we can count on this foundation in cases where it is necessary”, prime minister Wever-Croes said.
