ORANJESTAD – The Minister of Justice and Social Affairs, Mr. Rocco Tjon, recently opened a congress regarding the ” Parenthood Plan” project.

During this congress, various experts in the social field shared information about the essential aspects for parents and children when dealing with divorce. It is in connection with the Continued Parenthood law, which Parliament will probably discuss this year.

During the seminar’s week, the professionals in this field will attend various other significant courses.

They ensured that 46 teachers received the training as KIES (Children in Divorce Situations) coaches, which consisted of two groups, one for children between the ages 6-12 and one for the group ages 13-18. Additionally, 13 professionals received training in family mediation.

The reason for launching the Planned Parenting project is the introduction of the “Law for the Promotion of Continued Parenthood and Careful Divorces on Aruba.

Part of this law is to reach agreements for, among others, the care and management of the “parenting plans.” The foundation of this law focuses on the importance of education and the formation of our professionals.

The Parenthood plan project is possible thanks to the cooperation and dedication of the members of the planned parenting committee Mrs. Michella Steenvoorde -Laclé, Mr. Bert Wielenga, Mrs. Aisca Berkemeyer, Mrs. Sacha Geerman, Mrs. Yvonne Bermudes, Mrs. Magaly Maduro, Mrs. Sylvie Eman, Mr. Luc Alofs and Mrs. Desiree Helder.

Minister Tjon is grateful to the planned parenting committee’s professionals and the Minister of Justice and Safety in the Netherlands, Mrs. Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, for her collaboration.
