(Oranjestad)—On Saturday night, the Aruba community came together once again for the first parade of the Carnival 72 season: the Torchlight Parade, better known as “Fakkel.”
The night was a warm one and marked a great start to the year for many Carnival fans. As is customary every year, several groups participated in the parade, complete with bands, bars, and of course participants who danced and enjoyed the carnival atmosphere on a cool and bright Saturday night.
The parade route followed the same one as every year, starting at the Aruba Entertainment Center, passing through Vondellaan, and ending at the Turbo Roundabout.
The order of the groups for this year was as follows:
- TOB Carnival Group
- Dushi Carnival Group
- Los Laga Bai
- Royal Carnival Group
- Champagne Carnival Group
- Empire Carnival Group
- Colours Carnival Group
- Hepa DMC Society
