Every year during the month of September, energy consumption in Aruba reaches its peak for the year. However, the electricity company of Aruba, NV Elmar indicated that last month broke every record.
Factors conducing to this record are, among other things, the excessive heat which causes the compressor of air conditioning units to increase energy consumption, in order to regulate and reach the desired temperatures to which the user is accustomed, and a longer use of the air conditioning units to provide relief from the heat. This all contributes to higher energy consumption.
“Be more mindful of energy consumption. Take a moment every day to turn off electronic appliances that are not being used or do not need to be turned on”, the company recommended.
