During a period of almost two years, Mr. Ivan Quandus worked on the digitalization of the music collection of Maybelline Arends-Croes. This great work is now completed and the music is preserved for the future generations.

Maybelline is known in the Aruban community, not only as teacher at IPA (Pedagogical Institute of Aruba) and Colegio Arubano (High School), but also as director of different choirs and prominent judge at different music and singing festivals in Aruba and the Antilles.

For all of this, she won the highest cultural award from the Prins Bernhard Cultuur Fonds for the Caribbean region in March of 2022.

The material that was digitalized includes cassettes, DAT tapes, mini-discs, CDs, LPs, 45 RPM, reel to reel, and videos.

Ivan Quandus thanks Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds for the Caribbean region for the financial support to realize this project. He thanks them for recognizing the great value of digitalizing Maybelline Arends-Croes’ collection and in this way conserving our cultural heritage in a sustainable way.

The photographs show the moment when Ivan Quandus delivered the results of this work to Maybelline, as well as different stages of the project.
