For today we received a lovely message from Don Alhart

He wrote to us saying;

“Sure, I love the beach, the weather, and the sunsets. Aruba to me, though, is also lamp post 1722, along the biking and walking path that was formally a divided highway.

It is the “goal” of my 3 ½ mile walk- each day I am on ‘One Happy Island.’
Lamp post #1722 is exactly 1.75 miles from the Marriott Surf Club- my “turnaround”, if you will.

It is the people I encounter along the way that enrich my day. Some, I see every March, when we stay for two weeks. Others, whom I assume are residents, I see every time we return in the summer or fall. We wave! We smile! We say ‘Bon Dia!’

The smiles, greetings, and the encouragement as I wind my way back through the various resorts allow me to embrace the friendly spirit of this happy island.

When I tried to take a selfie, a couple stopped and offered to help. As they snapped the photos they asked, ‘Is this lamp post special?’

‘Yes,’ I said. ‘It is a reminder of the wonderful people who are Aruba to Me!’”

Thank you for sending us this wonderful message sharing what Aruba means to you with us and our readers!
