Dutch yacht sailors Liselotte and Machiel recently arrived with their boat Pitou in the harbor of Aruba. Despite the COVID-19 crisis the couple was welcomed with open arms by the Aruban people.

They have sailed thousands of kilometers from Martinique to Aruba where they were examined by a doctor in COVID-19 protective gear upon arrival. They feel very safe here seeing the protection protocol carried out by the harbor master and his staff. They also feel the warmth of the people of Aruba and were welcomed with a bottle of champagne, a horn blowing by other boats -which is a tradition among sailors- and an enthusiastic hello from friends. They will be in quarantine for ten days which is no problem at all as they feel safe, welcomed and protected from possible hurricanes. Source: Vrij Nederland.
