(ORANJESTAD)—Aruba Today recently shared a heartwarming story about a group of long time visitors who dedicate their time to keeping our beaches clean. Bob Zimmerman and a few of his friends took it upon themselves to help properly dispose trash around the Hooiberg Hill. Since then, it became a ritual of them to meet up for four weeks every year and collect trash all over Eagle Beach—with new volunteers willing to join in on their good cause each year.

Since leaving the island, Bob Zimmerman has handed off the official trash bag to our friend Mark, another visitor who recently arrived on the island and will keep up the good work.

Mark and Bob met 15 to 20 years ago on the sandy white beaches of Eagle Beach while Bob was having his yearly tradition of trash collecting around the area. As Bob would tell us, Mark and his wife have been collecting trash around Eagle Beach for 30 years. This year, they’re back for a whole month and will pick up where Bob and his wife left off. Thank you Mark for taking care of our tiny home!
