The International Bank Note Society (IBNS) announces today that its voting membership has selected the Central Bank of Aruba (CBA) to receive its annual prestigious “Bank Note of the Year Award” for 2019. Aruba’s new 100 florin banknote is the award winning design.
On June 3rd 2019, five new Aruban florin banknotes, of which one has a new denomination, were issued after years of intensive preparations and close cooperation with various local stakeholders, including the commercial banks, as well as international suppliers of banknote paper, security features, and equipment. The 100 florin banknote has predominantly a green color, which represents thenatural habitat of different species of Aruba’s flora and fauna.
From all significant newly designed and widely circulated banknotes released in 2019, the IBNS membership nominated notes from 22 different countries to place on the ballot. In its press release, IBNS speaks highly of the 100 florin banknote: “The unique designs are truly eye catching and effectively balance the challenge of anti-counterfeit technology with production costs. Local schools and citizens were all engaged in this national currency transition.“ Proud of Aruba

Free educational app ‘Aruba su Florin’ To introduce the safety features of the new banknotes to the Aruban community, the CBA launches a free app. The app enables the possibility to discover all features of the banknotes in a playful and approachable way.
Mrs. Miriam Gonzalez, Executive Director of the CBA: “After the successful introduction of the new banknotes last year, people are used to the new appearance. Thus, this is the right moment to take the Aruban community a step further in getting familiarized with the banknotes, by exploring the security features and having some fun in doing so. The app is both educational and entertaining, getting to know the unique design and features, and the story behind them.”
