Another successful weekend where volunteerism shined across our island, showcasing the big heart of our community, as 3,500 volunteers came together to support 160 projects.

Early Friday morning marked the start of another successful edition of Aruba Doet, with the presence of Acting Governor Mr. Agustin Vrolijk, the organizers of Aruba Doet, the press, and volunteers from Grupo Scout Sonrisa—a scouting group for individuals in Aruba with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.

The Director of CEDE ARUBA, Daniel Tecklenborg, highlighted the 13th edition of Aruba Doet, an initiative in partnership with the Oranje Fonds, which is also present in Curaçao, Bonaire, Saba, Statia, and Sint Maarten. He emphasized the importance of volunteers as the heart of our community and expressed gratitude to all volunteers, participating organizations, and the Oranje Fonds for their continued dedication to the initiative, demonstrating that Aruba Doet is here to stay.

Acting Governor Mr. Agustin Vrolijk emphasized the value of Aruba Doet and the crucial role of volunteer work for the well-being of our community. He noted that this is a special day for all volunteers who have the opportunity to work for their community and expressed his gratitude for being part of it. He once again called on everyone to register, stating that there is work for everyone—and the more volunteers there are, the better the work that can be done, and the more complete Aruba’s community will be.

Aruba Doet coordinator, Paulien ter Meulen, also took the opportunity to thank all volunteers, organizations, coordinators, companies, and the Aruba Doet team for making everything possible.

The project was officially opened with the Acting Governor and Doeti (the mascot) placing the first coats of paint on the playground together with his colleagues, helping to beautify and renovate the playground for the children of Grupo Scout Sonrisa. The project at Grupo Scout Sonrisa is one of the many beautiful projects that took place over the weekend.

Aruba Doet sincerely thanks everyone who participated in the 13th edition and hopes that the spirit of volunteer work continues throughout the entire year. Preparations have already started for next year, and they are counting on your support once again!
