Rani Melwani Varde has a great love for art. This can be seen and felt in her paintings, pottery and pyrography works. She is also a spiritual teacher and offers free meditation courses to people of all ages.

Born in the gorgeous mountain city of Shillong in North India, Rani had a creative flair from her earliest memories. Always fascinated by the delicate balance of colors in nature, Rani has endeavored to replicate the same in her artwork.

Her unique style “NIRA” which in Sanskrit means flowing like water, is her way of depicting the ever-changing flow of colors in life. Rani incorporates her Indian heritage in some of her paintings. Being at the confluence of two cultures, she enjoys blending Indian and Western elements in the ‘Nira’ style. As a matter of fact, even her signature contains a balance of Indian and western scripts. Her deep awe for the mother and child balance of the life is reflected in her artwork.

Pottery and Pyrography are two other art forms that Rani pursues. One of Rani’s greatest joys is inspiring others to follow their passions. She gives pottery & pyrography classes to adults and children on the island.

A driving force behind Rani’s life is her daily habit of meditation that she has practiced for the last 25 years. She says that the outward manifestation of what she feels within is reflected in her art. Whenever she paints, she is in a state of thoughtless awareness and in that state she is able to achieve results on canvas and wood that are breathtaking.

Rani attributes her talent, inspiration and more to her Spiritual teacher and guide Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi (1923-2011) who traveled around the world tirelessly from 1970 -2008 teaching the ancient art of meditation to one and all, absolutely free.

Rani also gives meditation courses on the island of Aruba. These courses are absolutely free and can be practiced by people of all ages. To find out more about the Meditation technique and free courses around the world click http://sahajayogaaruba.org or contact her at +297 5935628.

Rani would like to invite you to her art exhibition taking place this month until October 2021 at Aruba Chamber of Commerce (Opposite of the Divi & Tamarijn hotel). You can visit the exhibition from Monday to Friday from 8am till 4pm. Entrance is Free.
